Adopting ultra wideband (UWB) positioning technology. UWB technology has the characteristics of high precision, low power consumption, and strong resistance to multipath interference, making it very suitable for precise positioning of personnel in complex indoor environments of supermarkets. Its positioning accuracy can reach centimeter level or even higher, which can meet the needs of supermarkets for precise grasp of personnel positions.

Supermarket personnel positioning

1、 System architecture

Positioning label:

Equip supermarket staff (such as cashiers, tally clerks, security guards, etc.) and special customer groups (such as the elderly and children) with miniaturized UWB positioning tags. Tags can be designed in the form of badges, bracelets, etc., which are convenient to wear and do not affect normal activities.

The positioning tag is powered by a built-in battery and has a low-power operation mode to extend battery life and reduce the hassle of frequent battery replacement. Meanwhile, the tag can periodically send UWB signals containing its unique identifier to the surrounding environment.

Positioning base station:

Reasonably distribute and install UWB positioning base stations on the ceiling, walls, and other locations of the supermarket. The layout of the base station needs to be carefully planned based on the area, shape, and internal structure of the supermarket to ensure that the entire supermarket area can be effectively covered by the base station signal without signal blind spots.

The base station is responsible for receiving UWB signals sent by positioning tags and transmitting the received signal data to the backend server for processing through wired or wireless networks.

Backend servers and data processing centers:

The backend server is the core data processing unit of the entire positioning system. It receives signal data from various positioning base stations and uses specific positioning algorithms to calculate the real-time position coordinates of each positioning tag.

The data processing center further analyzes, stores, and manages the positioning data. For example, recording personnel's movement trajectory, dwell time, activity range, and other information for subsequent queries and statistical analysis. At the same time, based on preset rules and logic, abnormal behavior of personnel (such as staying in a non work area for a long time, deviating from the normal work route, etc.) is judged and warned.

Monitoring and management terminal:

Supermarket managers can log in to the monitoring and management system through terminal devices such as computers, tablets, or smartphones. On the monitoring interface, with the map layout of the supermarket as the background, real-time location information, motion trajectories, and related status data of each personnel are intuitively displayed.

Management personnel can perform personnel information queries, historical trajectory playback, area division and management (such as setting work areas, restricted areas, etc.), as well as receive and process warning information issued by the system as needed.

2、 Function implementation

Real time personnel positioning and monitoring:

Management personnel can view the current location of personnel in the supermarket at any time on the monitoring terminal, understand the distribution of personnel, in order to allocate human resources reasonably and improve work efficiency. For example, during peak customer traffic periods, promptly arrange staff to provide services in areas with high customer density; Or take corresponding measures to alleviate congestion in a certain area.

For special customer groups such as the elderly and children, it can be convenient for their families or supermarket staff to quickly locate and find them when they get lost, ensuring their safety.

Personnel trajectory analysis and behavior management:

By recording and analyzing the movement trajectory of personnel, it is possible to understand whether the workflow of the staff is standardized and whether the work efficiency is efficient. For example, analyzing the movement path and dwell time of tally clerks between shelves, and determining whether their replenishment, shelf organization, and other work are timely and reasonable; Monitor the patrol trajectory of security personnel to ensure that they patrol according to the prescribed patrol route and time, and improve the safety of supermarkets.

Meanwhile, analyzing customer behavior trajectories can provide data support for supermarket product display and marketing strategy adjustments. For example, if customers in a certain area are found to have shorter stays and fewer product views, it may be necessary to optimize the product layout or promotional activities in that area.

Regional management and warning function:

Set up different areas within the supermarket, such as cash register area, warehouse area, fresh food area, restricted employee workspace, etc., and define and divide these areas in the system.

When personnel enter or leave a specific area, the system can automatically issue warning messages. For example, when unauthorized personnel approach the warehouse area, the system issues an alert to management personnel to prevent theft or other security incidents from occurring; Or when staff members leave their work area for a long time, the system can also issue a prompt for management personnel to promptly understand the situation and take action.

Emergency response and rescue support:

In case of emergency situations such as fires, earthquakes, etc., the system can quickly locate the positions of all personnel in the supermarket, providing accurate personnel distribution information for rescue personnel to develop reasonable rescue plans, improve rescue efficiency, and reduce casualties and property losses.

3、 Implementation steps

Requirement research and scheme design:

Have in-depth communication with supermarket management personnel to understand the scale, layout, personnel structure, business processes, and management needs of the supermarket, and determine key indicators such as functional requirements, accuracy requirements, and coverage of the personnel positioning system.

Based on the research results and the actual situation of the supermarket, design a detailed personnel positioning solution, including positioning technology selection, system architecture design, equipment selection and configuration, software function module design, etc.

Equipment installation and debugging:

According to the design plan, install the positioning base station in the supermarket. During the installation process, attention should be paid to factors such as the location selection, installation height, and angle adjustment of the base station to ensure that the base station signal can stably cover the entire supermarket area. At the same time, connect and configure the base station to enable normal communication with the backend server.

Distribute and wear positioning tags for supermarket staff and special customer groups to ensure that the tags are worn correctly and securely, and initialize and test the tags to ensure that they can transmit UWB signals normally.

Install and debug backend servers, data processing centers, and monitoring and management terminals to ensure that the hardware and software systems of the entire system can operate normally, and data transmission is stable and accurate.

System testing and optimization:

Conduct comprehensive testing of the personnel positioning system in the actual operating environment of the supermarket. Simulate various personnel activity scenarios, area entry and exit situations, and abnormal behaviors to verify whether the system's performance indicators such as positioning accuracy, functional integrity, stability, and warning accuracy meet the design requirements.

Based on the test results, optimize and adjust the system. For example, optimizing positioning algorithms to improve positioning accuracy; Adjust the transmission power and reception sensitivity of the base station to improve signal coverage effect; Optimize software functional modules, enhance system usability and management efficiency, etc.

Personnel training and system launch:

Provide systematic training to supermarket management and staff to familiarize them with the operation and usage methods, functional characteristics, and emergency response procedures of the personnel positioning system. The training methods can adopt various forms such as centralized lectures, on-site demonstrations, and practical exercises to ensure that relevant personnel can proficiently master the skills of using the system.

After thorough testing and optimization of the system, and completion of personnel training, the personnel positioning system will be officially launched and put into use. In the initial stage of system operation, arrange professional technical personnel for on-site tracking and technical support, timely solve possible problems, and ensure the stable operation of the system.
